The current “boom” in digital publishing (ebooks are currently outselling paper books 3-to-1) reminds a lot of us in the industry the early days of like search engine optimization. That’s because there are a couple of important similarities:

Just as domain names were everything in the early days of search engine optimization, keyword-optimized titles make e-books and other content much simpler for customers to find. That’s true whether you’re selling in a store like Amazon, or giving away copies on your own business website.
And secondly, you have to be sure you stand out with quality. It didn’t take long for the Internet to become flooded with marketing websites, many of them not really worth anyone’s time or attention. The same thing is happening in digital publishing, where the low costs of producing ebooks and other materials have persuaded many to give it a try. Make sure whatever you publish stands out for being the best and most informative in its category and you won’t have to worry about the competition.
Digital publishing might not be the same thing as search engine optimization, but the two aren’t all that different. Keep that in mind, and you can use your content to build a name your business, a profitable product, or both.
