There are a lot of things about Internet marketing that can be difficult – including making the decision to start with a plan or strategy in the first place.
If we were to point out one thing that we see lots of business owners and executives struggle with, however, it might surprise you: to simply let a winning online marketing campaign do its job.
Because it takes so much effort and planning to put a successful mix of search, social, email marketing, and other tools together, there is a natural tendency to want to keep tweaking and experimenting on an ongoing basis. There is always certainly room for experimenting and improvement, of course, but sometimes it’s best to simply leave the major components in place (at least as a control campaign that you can test against) and simply enjoy the results month after month.
As we’ve mentioned, that’s a harder thing to do than you might think. The old advice to “not fix something that isn’t broken” is smart, but it isn’t always easy to follow when you’re used to changing your marketing tools and messages on a regular basis.
